A bill filed in the state’s House of Representatives would provide thousands of lower-income and military families with money for their children to attend private schools in South Carolina.
After months of negotiations, and nearly a year after the original deadline, Republican lawmakers finally put forth and passed a budget this week. North Carolina had not passed a state budget since 2023, causing strain for public institutions, especially public schools, in the interim.
