In a stunning rejection of Republican Gov. Jeff Landry, Louisiana voters turned down all four of his constitutional amendments Saturday, including the governor’s plan to overhaul the state’s tax and budget laws.
After months of negotiations, and nearly a year after the original deadline, Republican lawmakers finally put forth and passed a budget this week. North Carolina had not passed a state budget since 2023, causing strain for public institutions, especially public schools, in the interim.
